How to Combine Weekend Orders into One Shopping List

Aggregate recipe demand, subtract usable stock, and round shortages to real package sizes.

Aggregate recipe demand

Multiply every recipe ingredient by the number of batches required for confirmed orders, then combine identical ingredients only when their units are compatible.

Subtract usable stock

Count stock that is available, in date, and not already reserved. Keep a safety buffer explicit instead of quietly inflating every recipe.

Worked example

Educational example: weekend orders need 4.4 kg flour and usable stock is 0.6 kg. The 3.8 kg shortage requires two 2 kg packs, leaving 0.2 kg after production.

Avoid duplicate names

Standardize ingredient names and units so flour, all-purpose flour, and AP flour do not become three shopping lines for the same item.

Put it into practice.

Use your own verified receipts and label every example as an estimate.
