What to Ask Before Quoting a Custom Cake

Collect servings, design, timing, delivery, and revision facts before committing to a number.

Define the edible product

Confirm event date, servings, tier sizes, flavor, filling, allergens discussed, finish, and any structural or venue restrictions before pricing.

Define the design scope

Record reference images as inspiration, colors, flowers or toppers, lettering, complexity, delivery, setup, and who supplies each non-edible item.

Worked example

Educational example: a $95 base cake plus $36 custom decorating, $14 purchased topper, and $20 delivery creates a $165 quote before applicable tax.

Protect the decision

Add quote expiry, deposit requirement, final-payment date, change deadline, cancellation terms, and a dated approval. Do not quote from an image alone.

Put it into practice.

Use your own verified receipts and label every example as an estimate.
