How to Estimate Your Weekly Baking Order Capacity

Convert available production hours and bottlenecks into a conservative order limit.

Count constrained hours

Begin with hours genuinely available for production, decoration, packing, purchasing, administration, and cleanup. Remove personal commitments and mandatory rest.

Model the product mix

Capacity depends on the sequence and bottleneck, not only item count. Batchable cookies use time differently from one-off decorated cakes.

Worked example

Educational example: 16 production hours can hold three 3-hour cookie orders and one 5-hour cake order, using 14 hours and leaving a 2-hour buffer.

Avoid accepting to the edge

Track actual versus planned time and reduce the limit when ovens, cooling space, delivery windows, or fatigue become the true constraint.

Put it into practice.

Use your own verified receipts and label every example as an estimate.
